Our Story
Felted Pet started with one badly made mouse that turned out to look exactly like a cat we missed. Ten years later there are nine of us, and we still make everything by hand.
A studio, not a factory
Every piece that leaves here is made by a named artisan who works on it from the first tuft of core wool to the last whisker. No production line, no moulds, no printing.
That limits how many commissions we can take each month, and we have decided to live with that rather than change how the work is done.
Where the wool comes from
We buy carded New Zealand wool for structure and fine merino for the top coat, from mills that can tell us which farm a batch came from. Long guard hairs on fluffy breeds are alpaca.
We do not use synthetic blends. They felt faster and cost less, and they go shiny under a lamp within a year.
Why we send a draft photo
You are the only person who knows what your pet actually looked like. Before any piece is finished we send a photo of the draft, and we adjust until you say it is right — that part is free, always.
About one order in ten comes back with a correction. It is usually the muzzle, and the customer is usually right.
Memorial work
A large share of what we make is for pets who have died. We take that seriously: those orders get scheduled with extra time, and we will never chase you for a decision or upsell you on an anniversary.
If a deadline matters — a birthday, a memorial date, a family visit — tell us and we will say honestly whether we can make it.
